Who it's for
You do not need a crisis to deserve a conversation
People come to Neeli in the middle of something ordinary far more often than in the middle of something dramatic. Wanting to talk is reason enough.
Situations people open Neeli for
The 2 a.m. spiral
You are awake, your thoughts are loud, and calling a friend feels like too much to ask at this hour. A listener is already awake.
After a breakup
The same story told to the same friends starts to feel like a burden. Here you can tell it as many times as you need, to someone who has not heard it yet.
Family pressure
Marriage, career, comparison, expectation. Talking to someone outside the family means you can say the honest version out loud.
A new city, no people yet
Relocation is lonely in a very specific way. A conversation in your own language can make an unfamiliar place feel less far from home.
Work and exam stress
Deadlines, results, the fear of falling behind. Sometimes the pressure only becomes manageable after you have described it to somebody.
Just wanting company
You do not need a crisis to deserve a conversation. Wanting to talk is reason enough to open the app.
The threshold
It does not have to be serious enough
The most common reason people do not reach out is the belief that what they are carrying is not big enough to bother anyone with. That belief is why small things become large ones.
There is no minimum seriousness on Neeli. A bad review at work counts. A friendship that has quietly cooled counts. A Sunday evening that feels heavier than it should counts. You are not using up a slot that someone in a worse position needs — listeners are here for exactly this.
Equally, nothing obliges you to have a topic. Some people open the app because the flat is silent and they want a voice in it for twenty minutes. That is a legitimate use of Neeli.
Important
When you need something other than Neeli
Being useful also means being honest about where we stop.
If you are in immediate danger, or thinking about suicide or self-harm, Neeli is not the right place. We are not an emergency service, we cannot send help to your location, and we cannot guarantee anyone is monitoring a conversation in real time. Please use one of the free, professionally staffed services below.
Neeli is not an emergency service
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, or you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, please contact one of these free services right now. They are staffed by trained professionals.
If you need clinical care — a diagnosis, therapy, medication, or treatment for a condition you are living with — please see a qualified mental health professional. Neeli is not therapy, does not diagnose or treat any condition, and listeners are not licensed practitioners. A conversation here can sit alongside professional care; it cannot replace it. Consult a healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and check with a doctor before making any medical decision.
If you are under 18, Neeli is not for you. The service is strictly for adults aged 18 and over, and accounts found to belong to minors are closed and their data deleted. Our Child Safety Standards explain why and how.
If you are looking for dating, flirting or sexual conversation, Neeli is not that either. Sexual content and solicitation are prohibited and end accounts permanently. See the Community Guidelines.
